I joined SEH back in 1996, largely by chance, when then Contracts Director Colin Sparrow gave me the opportunity to travel in with my dad, Alan Middlemiss, to a site in Broxbourne. What was meant to be two weeks of holiday cover for Laing Homes turned into something a bit more permanent.
After five years learning the trade under my dad’s brilliant guidance, I was promoted to Foreman. One of my first roles saw me finishing the final 50 units on a residential site in Earls Colne. I still laugh when I think back to those days – anyone asking for the foreman would usually walk straight past me, assuming I was still the tea boy.
Over the following 30 years I worked my way up through the ranks, taking on the role of Operations Director in 2026.
I married my beautiful wife Aimi in 2023, and together we have three amazing children. Four of us are loyal Leeds United fans, while the outcast, problem child (kidding…) has chosen to support Liverpool! He usually has the last laugh, but I’m hoping that won’t last forever…however, I am a realist 🙂
