Our People

Our teams are made up of clever people who know a lot about moving, selling and building things. They, along with their families, are the real heart and soul of our group – without them, we are nothing!

Board Directors

We believe in staying close to the action, so all our Directors have operational, as well as strategic responsibility. You won’t find any distant shareholders or non-executive roles in our businesses.

I came to the UK from Sydney in 1997, after marrying Pippa, who promised me that the sun always shined in Suffolk. I was very fortunate to join Jackson Civil Engineering and eventually also SEH Group when the two Groups combined. I have subsequently been blessed with working with a fabulous bunch of people as together we have grown and improved the Group. We have two terrific children, Chloe and Will, who are grown up now and making their own way in life. As an Aussie, I am hardwired to love active sports and spend a similar amount of energy building various projects to keep the engineer in me satisfied. I certainly can’t scratch that itch at work as apparently I’m ‘not a very good engineer’ as my colleagues politely put it.
I joined Jackson as an Accounts Assistant, progressing to Management Accountant in 2001, Financial Controller in April 2005 and then took up the position as Finance Director from January 2010. I’m a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. I started ‘Couch to 5K’ during Covid and got the running bug (to everyone’s surprise). I fulfilled my ambition to run the London Marathon in April 2023, and am now looking for my next marathon challenge!
I joined Jackson in 2001 as a Project Manager, working on a £5m project to build a distribution centre at Junction 25 of the M25 for Sainsbury’s. I’ve held various roles in the business since then, and was promoted to Managing Director in 2019. Robben Island is infamous as the island where Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison. What is less known is that in 1995, soon after his release from prison, I was sent to the island for 18 months, where I spent my days upgrading the infrastructure and services changing the island from a prison to a World Heritage Site. Still to this day one of the most interesting and unique projects I have ever been involved in.
I joined Jackson as a Site QS in 1997. I progressed through various roles and was promoted to Contracts Director in 2019. I used to play semi-pro rugby union. I captained my county (Kent) to a Twickenham Final in the County Championships and also played at Twickenham for my club side in the Middlesex 7’s, playing in front of 50,000+ people vs Wasps…we lost…badly!
I joined Jackson as a Managing QS in 2006 have progressed through the ranks to my current position. I’m a member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) I’m ambidextrous, I hold a car racing licence, motorbike licence, I’m a big England rugby fan, a long suffering Spurs fan and I love sports, any sport!
I started life in the industry in 1989 as a trainee Quantity Surveyor initially with SEH Ipswich, before moving to SEH French in 1992. After leaving to gain more experience with national contractors, I returned to SEH French in 2000, becoming Director in 2003. It’s been fantastic to play a part in the company’s growth and development over the past 20-odd years, during which we have been involved in some fantastic legacy projects around East Anglia. I have two wonderful grown-up children, Lauren and Lewis and I’m also Grandad to young Riley-Oscar, who certainly helps keep me young at heart! When I’m not watching football or trying to keep fit (managed to squeeze in a couple of marathons recently) my partner Susie and I, enjoy spending a lot of time walking our two Pomsky dogs, Millie and Skye. We also love getting away having relaxing or exploring holidays, as much as we are able to.
My career in the construction industry began in the late 1970’s and since then I have worked on a wide array of projects throughout East Anglia, comprising of many different types of construction. Over the years I have had the privilege of learning from, and working with, some great colleagues. I joined SEH French in 2012, becoming Director in 2014, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure working alongside Simon and our dedicated team. I have been married to Karen for almost 40 years and have three wonderful children, Natasha, Jamie and Sarah, who along with their partners and Barney our Westie, are our pride and joy. I enjoy watching sport and playing the occasional game of golf, though I spend most of my spare time with family and friends.
I joined Emmitt in 2007 as a Hire Manager and eventually placed in Corby, Northants in 2008. Here, I oversaw the building and development of the yard for a number of years. An opportunity arose within the company for me to manage a depot closer to home at Wattisfield on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. From there I was made up to Area Manager, where I found myself visiting old & new customers alike. Alongside site visits, I was drawn into quite a bit of debt collecting at the time…which was fun! My final move came in 2014, when I became Director. I married Mrs F in 2013 and we’re proud parents to our daughter, Hattie. In between brownies, swimming lessons, horse riding and a spot of gardening, I do enjoy a well-earned beer or two with family & friends and I am the proud landlord of my very own pub, or shall I say garden shed!
I began my working life with Emmitt at a young age, spending Saturdays and school holidays helping out wherever I could. In 2002, I was offered an apprenticeship at our former Wattisfield depot – an opportunity I grabbed with both hands. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bircham Newton NCC, where I earned my qualifications in Plant Mechanics. Between college terms, I took on an outside service engineer role, repairing and servicing a wide range of plant machinery out in the field. In 2008, I was given the chance to help set up the Corby depot. This presented a whole new challenge and gave me a deeper insight into how the company operates at its core. By 2012, I returned to head office to take on the role of Service Manager. I’m fortunate to work with a fantastic team and take great satisfaction in what we’re able to achieve; especially when the pressure is on. Outside work, I cherish time with my family, enjoy the occasional country pursuit, and spend time repairing Land Rovers.
I started my career back in 1997 with Jackson and obtained a great foundation over numerous sectors of the civil engineering industry. From this, I was able to transfer my skills across to SEH Ipswich in 2006. Much of my life has become groundworks orientated ever since! I have been lucky enough to forge a career that offers daily challenges with equal levels of job satisfaction whilst working with a great team. Outside work, I have a long suffering and fantastic wife, two children and a secondary career as “dad’s taxi service”. In between dropping off/collecting to numerous clubs, I try and grab the odd day on the clay pigeon shooting range or a quick ride on the trusty motorcycle.
I joined SEH back in 1996, largely by chance, when then Contracts Director Colin Sparrow gave me the opportunity to travel in with my dad, Alan Middlemiss, to a site in Broxbourne. What was meant to be two weeks of holiday cover for Laing Homes turned into something a bit more permanent. After five years learning the trade under my dad’s brilliant guidance, I was promoted to Foreman. One of my first roles saw me finishing the final 50 units on a residential site in Earls Colne. I still laugh when I think back to those days – anyone asking for the foreman would usually walk straight past me, assuming I was still the tea boy. Over the following 30 years I worked my way up through the ranks, taking on the role of Operations Director in 2026. I married my beautiful wife Aimi in 2023, and together we have three amazing children. Four of us are loyal Leeds United fans, while the outcast, problem child (kidding…) has chosen to support Liverpool! He usually has the last laugh, but I’m hoping that won’t last forever…however, I am a realist 🙂
I joined SEH Asphalt in 2006 fresh out of 6th Form at 18 years old, starting with one day a week at college and four days learning the ropes. I went on to have the world’s longest trial (no joke!), picking up many new skills along the way. I progressed to surfacing supervisor in the following years, taking on more responsibility and developing client relationships as time went on. Now in my 20th year with the company I’ve taken the final, and proud step up to being a Director! My wife Jade and I got married in 2017 and have 3 girls, which means I am outnumbered on a daily basis. I do sometimes manage to get away with watching a bit of football or F1 on a Sunday afternoon after spending most weekends running around various gymnastic or dance-related activities.
I entered the construction industry the day after leaving school, working for numerous local small builders out on site. However, it’s fair to say that my strengths and skills weren’t best suited to the operational world, so, after a few site-based roles, lots of sunburn and many poorly made cups of tea, I was offered a surveying job at a small Civil Engineering business in Essex. I worked here for 20 years, working my way up from Junior Surveyor to Commercial Business Partner, helping to grow the business from £5m turnover to £100m+. After 20 years it was time for a change so I joined SEH Asphalt in 2026. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time so far, and there really is a family feel to the group. Outside work, I am an out-and-out family man, happily married to my wife Amy for over 15 years now. We have two amazing children, Maisy now almost 18 and Stanley 13. We are a close-knit family and try to do as much as we can together. We love walking our dogs and seeing our family and friends at weekends, however nothing still beats a takeaway and BGT on a Saturday night! I’m also a keen golfer and try to play as much as I possibly can.
I returned to SEHBAC in 2013 as Head of Window & Doors Operations after a 12-year holiday at a national company. I was asked to take on the role of overall Operations Director after a year and when John retired, I moved into my current role of Managing Director in 2020. With over 37 years in the industry, having very few grey hairs and a full head of hair is probably my biggest achievement! If I have any spare time my wife is very kind and can prepare a new design for any room in the house faster than a Formula 1 team can perform a pit stop. My two boys also keep my mind reading skills at full capacity – with just seconds notice they need to be taken somewhere and they act surprised when I should have known, given they went there a month ago! The good news is that I’m always getting some pointless badge on my Fitbit watch for never sitting still!
I joined SEHBAC in June 2025 as Sales & Marketing Director, bringing with me over 24 years of experience in the retail Window, Door and Extension industry. Throughout my career, I’ve led fast-paced, results-driven teams and have a proven track record in growing revenue, improving customer engagement, and reducing costs. I’m passionate about strategy, detail-oriented execution, and creating a culture where teams thrive and customers stay loyal. Outside the office, life is equally energetic thanks to my two amazing teenage children, Beth and Bertie. We’re always planning our next adventure – from exotic beaches to off-the-beaten-track explorations. I’m a keen runner and believe in maintaining a well-balanced, mindful lifestyle. Music has also been a huge part of my life; I’ve been playing guitar and recording since my teens, landing a record deal in my earlier years that took me from festival stages to music studios in Los Angeles. These days, I’ve swapped the tour bus for sales targets – making double glazing my new rock ‘n’ roll!
I started my career as Marine Engineer apprentice in the Glasgow shipyards. My father owned a transport company and asked if I would I come in and help, I said yes to 3 months max, however, I never left this industry of freight and that was over 30 years ago! I joined Anchor Freight 12 years ago and I became the Managing Director 8 years ago. The freight industry can be challenging to say the least – luckily I enjoy problem-solving. For over 20 years, I have been an active member, including Chairman in 2019, of the Glasgow Freight Club. I’m married to Carolyn with 3 great kids Kirsty and Glenn who have now left home and started their own journeys in life. My youngest daughter Caitlin still lives at home – she knows a good thing when she’s got it! Our boss of the house is Copper our cocker spaniel. My grandson Rory was a welcome addition to our family in Oct’22.
Eddie joined One Group Construction in 2017 following a highly successful early career in domestic sofa testing and squirrel surveillance. Eddie specialises in team wellbeing, lunchtime walk audits and barking at high-vis jackets (just to keep everyone on their toes). He can often be found leading motivational tail wags or hosting informal biscuit negotiations by the kettle. Eddie is passionate about sustainable construction (sticks), robust perimeter security (fence sniffing), and maintaining rigorous quality control standards (mainly involving treats). While he may not answer emails, his presence alone boosts productivity across the Group. He is, without doubt, the most pawsitively influential member of the senior team.
