I started my career as Marine Engineer apprentice in the Glasgow shipyards. My father owned a transport company and asked if I would I come in and help, I said yes to 3 months max, however, I never left this industry of freight and that was over 30 years ago! I joined Anchor Freight 12 years ago and I became the Managing Director 8 years ago. The freight industry can be challenging to say the least – luckily I enjoy problem-solving.
For over 20 years I have been an active member, including Chairman in 2019, of the Glasgow Freight Club. I’m married to Carolyn with 3 great kids Kirsty and Glenn who have now left home and started their own journeys in life. My youngest daughter Caitlin still lives at home – she knows a good thing when she’s got it! Our boss of the house is Copper our cocker spaniel. My grandson Rory was a welcome addition to our family in Oct’22.
